Volunteers Are A Vital Part Of Our Mission
Volunteers are the lifeblood of Gift & Thrift and Booksavers of Virginia. Volunteers help us prepare donations for sale, make minor repairs to furniture, stock our sales floor, cashier, and list items online. Volunteers help drive our success and bring their own energy and creativity to our operation.
Volunteer Opportunities For Everyone
We welcome volunteers of all walks of life, from every faith, of all abilities, and of any age. We have teamed up with James Madison University organizations and Community Service Learning programs to complete projects. We were humbled to be recognized by CS-L as one of the best places to volunteer. We have opportunities for those who need to complete Community Service hours. Businesses and organizations providing volunteer experiences for employees will find meaningful work with us. No matter what your experience and abilities are, we have something to offer to everyone.
Volunteering On Your Terms
Gift and Thrift and Booksavers provide about 250 volunteer opportunities each week. Individuals or groups with any level of time commitment (3-4 hours daily, once a week, monthly, etc.) are welcome. What are your interests? What are your skills and talents? How much time do you have to give? We would love to pair you up with a volunteer opportunity that makes your heart smile! From big tasks to simpler ones, every volunteer helps us make a difference.
Volunteers Help Us Give Back to Our Community
Our proceeds support Mennonite Central Committee. MCC sponsors peace-keeping, restorative justice, care for the environment, and community building around the globe, but being a good community partner is at the Heart of what Gift & Thrift is about. Locally, we are able to support organizations such as Our Community Place, Second Home, and New Bridges in support of our community’s most vulnerable citizens. We know that when we work together, our community is stronger for it.
